Dog Therapy

What We Do:

As humans, it's inevitable to become anxious, stressed, sad, or frustrated in tense and confusing situations. Pluto The Pooch's Dog Therapy Service is here to relieve all your worries. By booking an appointment on our website we will send a dog of your choice your way so you can have some quality dog time. Our dogs are all taken from shelters that have deemed them "never to obtain an owner" whether that be because of their many health conditions or even their age. PPDTS takes these dogs in and cares for them like their very own. If you wish to adopt a dog after a session, let us know, and we will be sure to set something up!

The Science:

When the idea that dogs benefit your mental health is brought up in everyday conversations people ask, "Is there really any science to back this up? Or is this a load of dog (fill in the blank)?" Well, you might be surprised but owning, or sharing some quality time with a bundle of fur has an abundance of benefits. A MedicalNewsToday article "Dogs: Our best friends in sickness and in health" says that owning a dog reduces a person's risk of premature death by up to a third, and that dog owners have a lower risk of heart disease. The question is then asked of "Why do dogs do this?". To answer as simply as possible there are so many health benefits to owning a dog because they require so much physical attention that it forces the owner to exercise. But on a mental level, dogs make us feel happier because interaction with dogs causes an immediate release of oxytocin (the happy hormone).

Where to Find Us:
